Laucke CWA Scone Mix will produce for you a scone that will have your family and friends asking for your secret recipe.
Ingredients
600g Laucke CWA Scone Mix
240ml Milk (in place of water)
100g Sultanas
2 tspn Mixed Spice
Method
- Combine 600g pack of Laucke CWA Scone Mix, milk and 1 teaspoon of mixed spice. Country Women know that excellent scones require more moisture and kneading than is common practice
- Knead dough vigorously until soft, smooth and sticky and you will be rewarded with softer, moister scones that stay fresher, longer. This is easily achieved in a Mixer with a K type dough hook, mixing for 3 minutes at medium speed
- Mix in half the sultanas
- Scrape on to a floured board and rest dough for 5 minutes, where the dough will lose stickiness
- Roll scone dough out to 1cm thick, and spread 1 teaspoon mixed spice and the other half of the sultanas across the dough sheet
- Roll up the scone dough sheet tightly
- Cut into 6 separate scrolls, and place in a 20 cm spring form cake tin, with the fruit twirls facing up
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until scones are golden on the top
- Glaze with a sugar syrup while hot, or apply icing
